2018 Holiday Concert Information

Here is some information about the concert

Concert is FREE! Bring the whole family!!!
It will be BUSY!! Over 500 student musicians from McDonald, Vanston, and North Mesquite will be performing tonight. Please be patient.
You don't have to stay for the entire concert. Usually we do stay for the entire concert. But, since there are 7 groups performing, if you need to leave, we understand.
If you do stay, get a program signed by a band director (any director) and I will give you extra credit.
When you pull into North Mesquite, the best place to park will be the parking lot to the North of the school. It is very large and should accommodate everybody. Hopefully the gate to that parking lot will be open and you can enter it from Town East and not have to drive around to the front of the school. If you come in the front parking lot. Veer to the right to enter the big parking lot.
- Students should enter in the double glass doors that face the big parking lot that touches Town East Blvd. Proceed to the band hall for your warm up.
- Parents: Please go to the front of the school and enter. The hallway that the students are in wil be VERY busy.

The concert will start on time. Parents, you should be in your seat at least 10 minutes before the concert starts.
There is no cost to attend the concert. Bring the whole family!

Uniforms - You MUST be in the correct uniform to be allowed to play. Those uniforms are detailed in the handout.
Concert Etiquette - For those of you who have never been to a band concert before, here are some general audience etiquette points.

Please put your cell phones and other devices that make noise on silent. We are recording this concert and those sound can interfere with the a great recording AND it is VERY distracting for the performers.
If you have a small child, please sit on the aisle so that if they love the music so much that they want to scream along with us, you can take them out in the lobby.
No food or drink in the auditorium
If you must talk to your neighbor (about how AMAZING the students are playing) please lean in close and whisper so as not to disturb the people around you
When the students are on stage, we have taught them to NOT wave at you. We treat the stage and the students as a professional performance. So, we try to act like it. We may not sound like it (yet) but we can look like it and act like it.
Clapping is always welcome at the end of songs, but during the songs there should be any: screaming, hooting or hollering, clapping, flash photography, or snowball fights,

There are no sectionals this week. All times before and after school are for students who have not finished their pass offs. Click the links below to see your progress.

If you do not finish your pass offs, you might not be allowed to play at the concert.

Please remember that Tuxedo shirt money is due by Friday. $20. Cash or check to Mr. Major or credit/debit card in the front office. Please remind them to send me a copy of the receipt so I can make sure you get credit for it.
